Grant and awards

The Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation, true to the spirit of its two founders, supports contemporary creation.

The HCB Award, a creative grant that gives way to an exhibition and a book, honors the work of established photographers whose work demonstrates documentary inspiration. Numerous international artists have benefited from the support of the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson since the creation of the Award, to carry out ambitious photographic projects.

In 2024, the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson bestowed an Honorary Prize on artist Sophie Calle during its annual Gala.

In 2025, it diversified its support activities by launching the Martine Franck Curatorial Research Grant, to help researchers and curators develop a research and exhibition project on the work of Martine Franck and/or Henri Cartier-Bresson based on the Foundation’s archives, thus contributing to the revitalization of curatorial approaches to the work of these two photographers.
