In 1994, London-based artist Sophy Rickett produced the “Pissing Women” series while completing her photography studies and simultaneously working for the Financial Times. By photographing herself and her suit-clad friends urinating standing up, at night, on London buildings that symbolize order and power, Sophy Rickett produces provocative and performative images that parody masculinity.
Climax Books is publishing the very first edition of this series, with a cover reminiscent of the graphic style of 1990s flyers, in an object that reflects the publisher’s work: effective and transgressive.
