Catalogue de l’exposition « Venus d’ailleurs par Martine Franck , Peintres et sculpteurs à Paris depuis 1945″ présentée à la Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris (5 octobre 2011 – 7 janvier 2012).
“As we know, she is a confirmed and established subtle landscape artist, offering us views that are, by turns, lively, bold and distinct, awash in mist or iridescent, so many portraits drawn through a nature that is either in its raw, natural state or else fashioned by human beings over long periods.”
Catalogue of the exhibition “Venus d’ailleurs par Martine Franck , Peintres et sculpteurs à Paris depuis 1945” exhibited at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris from October 5, 2011 to January 7, 2012.
Martine Franck has risen from the sphere of friendly connivance and personal taste, encounters or commissions, to a wider constellation: the one with artists of all kinds who have come to Paris since the Second World War through the magic of an irrepressible attraction, most often born of an almost unconscious impulse like so many dodges or suspended approaches.
Paris is no longer the capital of the art market, yet many foreign artists have chosen to live there: Arikha, Alechinski, Dado; Giacometti, Hadju, Zoran Music, Arpad Szenes, Zao Wou Ki…63 portraits of Martine Franck taken from 1963 to 2010, compose a strong “Parisian identity”.
