At the beginning of the 21st century, new digital technologies enabled the development of platforms for printing books on demand. This made it much easier to publish photography books. From 2003 onwards, Stephen Shore embraced this practical, playful, and democratic form of self-publishing and put it to use for his most experimental projects. His print-on-demand books are serial in nature, like a car ride in Queens, or a journey by train or plane. They were generally produced in the course of a single day. Since then, Shore has published more than 80 books on themes related to his daily life, reconstructing a journey through the ordinary.
On the occasion of the “
