The “Henri Cartier-Bresson” catalog, published by the FHEL to coincide with the retrospective in Landerneau, brings together over 300 reproductions of the artist’s photographs, from the most famous to the lesser-known, in a chronological and thematic progression, and aims to highlight the diversity of approach of one of the most admired photographers of his time. There is not just one Henri Cartier-Bresson, but many. Through the story of this multifaceted eye, the catalog of the retrospective organized at the FHEL also traces the history of the 20th century.
Marie NDiaye shares her authorial insight into the photographer’s creative process in a previously unpublished text that structures the book.
The book also includes two prefaces, one by Michel-Édouard Leclerc, the other by Clément Chéroux, Director of the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation.
